Thousand Oaks pairs VC Alert with a four-quadrant plan
VC Alert delivers time-sensitive messages, while Thousand Oaks's four-quadrant evacuation page helps residents learn two possible routes before an incident.
VC Alert sends time-sensitive emergency messages in English and Spanish to affected parts of Ventura County. Register the contacts and addresses that matter so an alert can reach you away from home as well as at home.
The city’s evacuation page is the planning side. Thousand Oaks is divided into four broad quadrants: northwest, northeast, western, and southern. Find the quadrant for home and work and learn two possible ways out of the neighborhood. The Tri-City Evacuation Plan adds regional planning with Thousand Oaks information on pages 57 through 61.
Those maps do not choose the route for a live incident. Smoke, fire, flooding, traffic, or a closure can make a familiar road unusable. Follow the current VC Alert and emergency responder directions when it is time to move.
The useful setup is VC Alert, two possible routes, a meeting place, and a plan for medicine, pets, and anyone who needs more time. The alert provides the action; the planning page makes that action easier to follow.
