A Pasadena home plan works best with PLEAS and a second alert channel
Make a short household plan, register for Pasadena's PLEAS system and Alert LA, and know what an evacuation warning or order asks you to do.
Start with a plan your household can use. Pick an out-of-area contact and two meeting places. Add medicine, mobility needs, and pets. Keep a contact list on paper. Think through more than one way out. Officials may name a different route during an event.
PLEAS is Pasadena’s local alert system. It sends text and voice messages about emergencies near places where people live or work. Pasadena also says to sign up for Los Angeles County’s Alert LA. No one system can reach everyone. If an officer or firefighter tells you to leave, go even if no alert reached your phone.
An evacuation warning means there may be a threat. Use that time to get ready. Leave early if anyone needs more time or if you have pets or livestock. An evacuation order means an immediate threat and a lawful command to leave now.
Pasadena Fire says city fire stations are Disaster Information Sites during a major disaster. They are a backup place to get or share key news if normal systems fail. They do not replace 9-1-1 for an immediate emergency. They also do not replace current PLEAS or city orders.
