Concord emergency alerts start with the county warning system
Contra Costa's Community Warning System can give Concord residents incident details and a specific action such as sheltering, evacuating, locking down, or avoiding an area.
Concord’s Office of Emergency Services points residents to Contra Costa County’s Community Warning System, or CWS. A CWS message can give basic incident information and name a protective action: shelter in place, evacuate, lock down, or avoid an area. Read and follow the action in the current message instead of guessing from the type of incident.
Register the cell numbers and email addresses you actually use. Alerts can be geographically targeted, so add important locations when the system offers that choice. Wireless Emergency Alerts, official city or county pages, local broadcasts, and conditions around you remain useful backup layers.
The city CERT page is for training and household readiness, not current incident status. For most homes, the clean setup is CWS for warnings, the OES page for official context, and a short plan for pets, medicine, school pickup, and anyone who may need extra time.
