Chino Hills State Park is the city's big open-space edge

Chino Hills State Park gives the city a large state-managed open-space edge with trails, hills, spring flowers, rain closures, and fire-weather rules.

Chino Hills State Park gives the city its big wild edge. The park covers more than 14,000 acres and has over 90 miles of trails, including many multi-use routes.

The main park entrance is on Sapphire Road in Chino Hills. From there, the park opens into rolling hills that feel very different from the nearby suburbs. In spring, the open slopes can be especially pretty, but the park is useful all year if conditions are right.

The phrase “conditions are right” matters here. State Parks closes trails after more than one-quarter inch of rain and during red-flag fire danger. Dogs are also limited by park rules. Before you drive over, check the current State Parks page so you know which entrance, trail, and rule applies that day.
