A Red Flag Warning is a weather signal, not an evacuation order

A Red Flag Warning identifies critical fire-weather conditions for a stated area and time; it is not itself an evacuation order, fire report, or universal burn ban.

Open the National Weather Service warning. Check its exact zone and its start and end times. Then check the county alert system and the fire agency for your area.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather is here or expected. It does not mean a fire has started. It is not, by itself, an evacuation order or a road closure. It is also not a utility power shutoff or a burn ban for the whole state.

Those steps come from local safety agencies, utilities, land managers, or fire agencies. Check current local rules before you burn, mow dry plants, use tools that can spark, or enter closed land.

While the warning is active, charge your phones and park facing out. Review your routes and avoid sparks you can prevent. Call 911 for a new fire or danger now. If you get a local evacuation warning or order, follow it. Do not use the weather warning alone to judge if your area is safe.
