Long Beach permit projects work better when you pick the right counter
Long Beach Permit Center services separate building permits, online submittals, plan review, status, records, payments, public works, right-of-way, sewer, water, and gas-line questions.
For a Long Beach address, the permit counter you need depends on where the work happens. A kitchen remodel, a tenant improvement, sewer connection, curb work, or road excavation can all sound like “permits,” but they do not all belong in the same lane.
The Permit Center is built for that sorting job. Building and Safety handles building permits, plan review, inspections, status, and records. Public Works and utilities help with road excavations, curb work, construction in the public right-of-way, sewer connection permits, and water, sewer, or gas line location questions.
Online permitting is available too. After an online application is submitted, fee information may come back by electronic invoice, and payment completes the permit issue step for approved work. Larger projects may still need plan review and a project number for status checks.
Before applying, draw the project boundary in your head. Is the work inside the building, on the lot, or in the street area? In Long Beach, that simple map can point you to the right counter.
