Alert Long Beach is operating on its new platform
Alert Long Beach is the city's signup for localized phone, text, and email messages. Most local landlines and Wireless Emergency Alerts follow different paths.
Alert Long Beach is the city’s own alert signup. City staff use it for threats to health and safety. It may also carry some other city notices. A registered home or business can get a call, text, or email. You choose the contact details and can update them later.
Most home and business landlines are already in the system through phone carriers’ 911 records. That does not add your mobile number or email. Add those yourself, especially if you are often away from the landline address.
The system changed recently. Long Beach stopped using the old service after a nationwide vendor data breach in November 2025. On February 26, 2026, the city said the new system was fully working. It also said all 24,000 saved contacts had moved over. People who were already enrolled did not need to join again. New users can sign up on the current city page.
A Wireless Emergency Alert is separate. It can reach a phone in the danger area without signup. Phone settings and reception still matter. The city’s Emergency Updates page has a different job. When the city turns it on, it shows live details on evacuations, health, services, and help lines. Use Alert Long Beach for messages sent to you. Use the updates page to see the larger picture.
