The Forum keeps Inglewood's older entertainment story in the mix
The Forum opened in 1967 on Manchester Boulevard and remains a major Inglewood entertainment landmark near today's larger event district.
Inglewood’s event district now gets a lot of attention because of SoFi Stadium, Intuit Dome, Hollywood Park, and big sports weekends. The Forum is the older landmark that helps the whole area make more sense.
The Forum opened in 1967 at 3900 West Manchester Boulevard. Its round shape, columns, and arena scale made it stand out from regular commercial buildings around it. For many years, it was the place people connected with major concerts and Los Angeles sports in Inglewood.
The building also has a comeback story. After Madison Square Garden acquired it in 2012, the Forum was renovated for modern entertainment while keeping its well-known look. The building did not disappear when newer venues arrived. It stayed in the mix and helped Inglewood’s entertainment identity carry forward.
If you are going to an event nearby, it helps to remember that the Forum is part of the reason this stretch of Inglewood became familiar to generations of fans, concertgoers, workers, and neighbors before the newer stadium era began.
