Poison Control is worth saving in the phone
Call California Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 for a possible exposure; call 911 first for unconsciousness, a seizure, trouble breathing, weakness, or collapse.
Some household questions need a real person fast. That can mean medicine mix-ups, cleaning products, plants, mushrooms, bites, batteries, cosmetics, or a child who got into something unknown.
California Poison Control answers 1-800-222-1222 around the clock. Call after a possible exposure even when symptoms seem mild or have not started. Save the number in the phone on a normal day.
For the call, keep the substance or package nearby. Be ready with the amount, type and time of exposure, plus the person’s age, weight, health, and symptoms if known. If the person is unconscious, cannot be awakened, has a seizure or uncontrollable shaking, has trouble breathing, feels weak, or collapses, call 911 first.
