Victorville emergency prep should fit the high desert
Victorville's emergency page is a preparedness link list, San Bernardino County TENS handles targeted disaster alerts, and Public Works handles non-emergency infrastructure reports.
Victorville’s Emergency Management page is for planning. It links to earthquake help, FEMA guides, the National Weather Service HeatRisk tool, and Smart911. It does not show live incidents. It also does not show road closures, open shelters, or open cooling centers. HeatRisk shows forecast risk. It does not confirm that a local site is open.
San Bernardino County uses TENS for disaster and evacuation messages. County landline numbers come from a list that is updated every six months. Cell phones and internet phone numbers must be added by the user. TENS messages often go only to the affected area, not the whole county. No internet? Call 2-1-1 or (888) 435-7565 to sign up.
Public Works takes non-emergency reports about streets, storm drains, streetlights, and weeds. Its main number is (760) 241-6365. The after-hours number is (800) 472-2376. Those lines are not emergency dispatch. Call 911 for a fire or medical emergency. Victorville Fire staff cannot send a crew from the office line.
At home, add mobile numbers to TENS. Use the city links to plan, and save Public Works numbers for routine problems. During an emergency, follow the alert and the agency in charge. The planning page is not a live status feed.
