Vallejo emergency prep can start with Alert Solano and CERT
Alert Solano sends county emergency notices; Vallejo CERT is a separate preparedness-training program.
Vallejo’s main signup for emergency notices is Alert Solano, the county’s regional notification system. It can send a text, email, or phone call to more than one device. Register before an emergency and keep your phone numbers and addresses current.
The county’s Respond page does a different job. It links to the live map for evacuation-zone status and road closures, plus the recent Alert Solano messages. Knowing your zone is useful planning; the map or alert tells you what is happening now. The county also names 95.3 KUIC as a radio backup during emergencies.
An evacuation warning means there may be a threat. An evacuation order means leave now. A shelter-in-place message means go indoors and follow the instructions. An order may arrive without a warning, so use the words in the current message rather than waiting for another alert.
Vallejo CERT is training, not an alert or dispatch service. The current city page says applicants must be at least 17 and live or work in Vallejo. It covers fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Save CERT for learning ahead of time; use Alert Solano and the county’s live response page during an incident.
