California State Parks campsites can need six-month planning

Most standard State Parks inventory opens on a rolling six-month window at 8 a.m. Pacific, while some high-demand sites now use separate reservation drawings.

state parkscampingreservations

For a popular California State Parks campsite, waiting can cost you the spot. Most standard reservations open on a rolling window up to six months before the arrival date. New dates open each day at 8 a.m. Pacific on ReserveCalifornia.

There are exceptions. Some high-demand parks use a separate drawing that can reach up to eight months ahead, and a limited number of parks offer same-day reservations. Check the park page before counting backward on the calendar.

ReserveCalifornia is the official booking service. Before treating the trip as set, read the current policy and checkout page. The campsite or lodging charge and the nonrefundable reservation processing fee are separate.
