Simi Valley sits close to pass trails and presidential history
Simi Valley readers can pair Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park with the Reagan Library, but each has different hours, access rules, and planning needs.
Simi Valley has two very different history stops nearby. One is rugged pass country. The other is a presidential library. They are close enough to plan around, but they do not work the same way.
Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park follows old travel routes through ridges and canyons. That includes Butterfield Overland Stagecoach history. It is open sunrise to sunset, and dogs are not allowed. Summer heat can make a short hike feel harder than it looks.
The Reagan Library is at 40 Presidential Drive in Simi Valley. Its visitor page suggests allowing a few hours for exhibits. Check both official pages before pairing them. Trail rules and museum hours are separate.
