The San Dimas depot still tells the railroad story

San DimasSanta Fe Depotrailroad history

The old Santa Fe Depot gives San Dimas a railroad story you can still walk up to. The Pacific Railroad Society Museum is inside the historic depot at 210 West Bonita Avenue, close to the older heart of town.

The museum is run by volunteers who care about trains, railroad travel, preservation, old equipment, and the stories behind how rail lines shaped Southern California. Their work keeps the depot active. It is a place where San Dimas can show how the railroad helped towns grow along the San Gabriel Valley.

The visit is best planned with a little care. The museum is usually open most Saturdays, but it is volunteer-staffed, so calling ahead is smart. That small step can save a wasted trip and may lead to a better visit.

San Dimas did not begin as freeway suburbia. Railroads, citrus-era growth, and older town streets all helped shape the place people see now.
