San Bernardino alerts use county TENS and city backup channels
County TENS sends targeted disaster messages, while San Bernardino's emergency page adds the SB Ready app and AM 1610 as other information paths.
San Bernardino County’s Telephone Emergency Notification System, or TENS, sends high-speed phone and text messages during major disasters such as wildfire. Fire and sheriff officials target the affected area, so a TENS alert does not usually go to the entire county.
The county refreshes its landline database every six months. Register to add cell-phone texts or a VoIP number and to manage the account by email. A person without internet access can register through 211 or the county phone number listed on the alert page.
The county’s SB Ready app is another path for push alerts, shelter locations, evacuation-route maps, news, weather, and a personal plan. The city also operates SBConnect on AM 1610 for city event, travel, and emergency information. These are backups, not reasons to ignore a direct order from a responder.
Register the contacts people actually carry and add the places that matter. During an incident, use the current TENS message, SB Ready update, city information, and responder directions together.
