Point Reyes has a horse ranch near Bear Valley
Point Reyes has big coast, big wind, and big geology, but the Morgan Horse Ranch gives the park a smaller, more personal story. It sits near Bear Valley, close enough to pair with a visitor center stop.
The ranch began as a National Park Service program for breeding and training Morgan horses. The horses helped with park work, and the ranch became a place where people could learn about the breed, the stables, and how mounted patrols fit into park life.
The story is easy to like because it is both practical and charming. These are not display animals placed there only for a photo. Park horses can help with patrol, backcountry work, special events, and education. The ranch buildings and exhibits make that role easier to picture.
For Point Reyes Station, this is a nice balance to the earthquake-trail story. The fault line shows how the land works. The horse ranch shows how people care for and move through that land.
