Paramount bulky pickup needs the Athens call first

Paramount residents can schedule bulky-item pickup through Athens Services, but items should not be set out without proper notice.

Paramount’s bulky-item rule is simple enough, but the order matters. Schedule first, then set items out. Do not turn the curb into a holding spot and hope the truck understands what happened.

For residential locations, Athens Services handles bulky-item pickup at no charge when it is scheduled the right way. Call Athens or use its bulky-item option at least 24 hours before the regular trash pickup day. After that, items should go to the curb no earlier than the day before the regular pickup day.

That timing matters in a dense southeast Los Angeles County city where curb space, sidewalks, driveways, and trash day all compete for room. A couch, mattress, appliance, or old household item can be easy to set out, but it still needs to be tied to a scheduled pickup.

Commercial and multi-family customers should check with Athens about their options, because the residential rule may not fit every property. Also keep the limits in mind: lumber, concrete, auto parts, paint, and used motor oil are not handled through this bulky pickup service.

Before setting anything out, make a short list of the items, call Athens, confirm the pickup day, and ask where to place the pile. Paramount treats improper set-outs seriously, and bulky waste discarded without proper notice can bring a fee. The phone call is part of the rule.
