Oakland's Jack London ferry is a different transit choice

The Oakland ferry terminal gives Jack London Square a transbay option, with schedules, fares, terminals, bikes, and parking to check on the ferry pages.

Oakland has BART and buses, but the waterfront adds another choice: the ferry at Jack London Square. For some trips across the bay, the ferry can be a calm ride and a smart option to compare with a train or bus.

The ferry is its own layer. It does not work like BART, and boats do not leave every few minutes all day. The Oakland and Alameda route connects the East Bay waterfront with downtown San Francisco. Some trips also depend on the right terminal, gate, and direction.

Use San Francisco Bay Ferry for the schedule, fare, ticket, bike, parking, and terminal details. Then compare the full door-to-door trip with BART or AC Transit. On a sunny day, the boat may feel like the easy pick. The exact sailing time still decides whether it works.
