Jensen Alvarado Ranch keeps farm life close in Jurupa Valley

Jensen Alvarado Ranch is a 30-acre historic county park where an 1870s ranch house, orchards, animals, and local landmark history sit inside a growing city.

Jurupa ValleyJensen Alvarado RanchRanch History

Jurupa Valley is a young city on paper, but Jensen Alvarado Ranch shows how old the local story is. Cornelius Jensen was a retired sea captain. Mercedes Alvarado came from a long California family line. They built ranch life here in the early 1870s, after earlier settlement near Agua Mansa shifted after flooding.

The ranch is now a 30-acre Riverside County historic site. It is small compared with the older ranch. Still, it has room for orchards, farm animals, museum pieces, and a ranch house that helps people picture daily life before citrus became the region’s big symbol.

The Jensens bought land in 1865. They planted vineyards and orchards. Over time, the ranch became a civic, social, business, and farm center.

This is a useful Jurupa Valley stop because it connects a fast-growing place to older Inland Empire roots. Check county park hours and tour details before planning around the inside spaces.
