Big Dalton and South Hills give Glendora two trail personalities

Glendora's trail system has both foothill canyon routes and South Hills ridge walks, with sunrise-to-sunset hours, leash rules, and exposed stretches.

GlendoraBig DaltonSouth Hills

Glendora’s trails are easier to understand if you split them into two main moods. Big Dalton sits on the foothill side near the Angeles National Forest edge. South Hills is closer to the city center and gives ridge walks with broad views.

The trail system has about 19 miles of hiking, equestrian, and multi-use routes across 32 trails. Big Dalton has hundreds of acres and a set of canyon-area routes. South Hills has its own network, including the South Hills Backbone Trail, a ridge route with city views. Trail hours are sunrise to sunset, and dogs need to be leashed.

Do not assume the routes are shady or easy just because they are close to town. Some sections are exposed, steep, or multi-use. The city trail guide is the right first stop.

The two trail areas also help with planning by season. Foothill heat, fire weather, and exposed ridges can change what feels comfortable, even when the trail is close to home.
