A Fresno County DBA filing starts with the County Clerk
Fresno County fictitious business name filings start with the County Clerk, separate from city business tax, seller's permits, and state filings.
In Fresno County, a fictitious business name is the public business name often called a DBA.
Start with the County Clerk when the business name does not clearly show the owner’s legal name. This can matter for a food stand, farm service, online shop, home business, contractor, salon, repair business, or small store.
The county filing is only one piece. A Fresno or Clovis business may still need a city business license or tax account. A seller may need a state seller’s permit. A food, building, sign, or zoning question may have its own office too.
Before filing, gather the business name, owner name, business address, and main county location. Search the name before settling on signs, cards, or a website.
After the filing is accepted, check the county page for publication and renewal steps. Those are easy to miss when the name search is the only thing on your mind.
