Rockville Hills gives Fairfield oak shade and volcanic rock

Rockville Hills Regional Park near Fairfield has grasslands, oak woodlands, volcanic rock, trails, picnic use, and simple day-use details to check first.

FairfieldRockville HillsOak Woodlands

Rockville Hills is a strong Fairfield outdoor anchor because it does not feel like a flat neighborhood park. The landscape shifts through grasslands, oak woodlands, broadleaf forest, volcanic rock, and shallow caves.

The park is at 2149 Rockville Road and covers 633 acres. Solano RCD lists sunrise-to-sunset hours and a small entrance fee, but those details are the sort of thing to check again before going.

For a simple first visit, bring water, expect hills, and look up any current closures. The park is close enough for a normal outing, but the terrain feels like a real foothill walk.
