Eastvale's dairy past still shows under its newer city feel

Eastvale grew from long-running farm and dairy country into one of Riverside County's newer cities, with a name tied to the old East Vale school district.

EastvaleRiverside CountyDairy history

Eastvale can feel like a very new city, and in city-government years it is. The local story goes back much farther. For a long time, this part of western Riverside County was known for farms, open land, and dairies, with Dutch and Portuguese dairy families helping shape the area.

The name Eastvale also has an older school-district thread. Local history points to “East Vale” as one of the old school districts in the area, back when small districts often carried the names people used for their communities. That kind of name can outlast the farms around it.

The cityhood part is useful to understand, too. Before incorporation, Eastvale was unincorporated Riverside County land, and people often had to explain whether they were in Corona, Norco, Ontario, Chino, or the county. A local incorporation effort began in the 2000s, and Eastvale became its own city in 2010.

So Eastvale is both new and not new. The subdivisions, city services, and shopping centers are part of a young city. The name, dairy memory, and community identity were already there before the city line caught up.
