Use the DMV calculator before you trust someone else's registration bill

California DMV calculators estimate common registration transactions; the final amount can change with the vehicle record, dates, location, penalties, or a more complex case.

DMVregistrationvehicle fees

California vehicle registration is not one flat price. The amount can change with the vehicle and its value, the date, where you live, weight, special plates, late fees, parking tickets, and toll bills.

Your neighbor’s bill is not a safe guide. Pick the calculator that fits your case: renewal, a new vehicle, a used vehicle, or one coming from another state.

Treat the result as an estimate. DMV says the tools handle basic cases. Tickets, fee waivers, weight changes, or a complex record may not be included. The vehicle record and final DMV bill set the amount due.
