Austin Park is Clearlake's big lakeshore lawn

Austin Park gives Clearlake a broad public place on Lakeshore Drive, with beach space, play areas, courts, shade, paths, and community events.

Austin Park gives Clearlake a warmer read than a map can. The city has a long edge along Clear Lake, and this park turns part of that edge into a public lawn, beach area, playground stop, walking path, and event space.

The park has the kind of pieces families actually use: shade, picnic areas, courts, a splash pad, a swim beach, a dog park, and room to move around. It is the sort of place where the lake is part of the background, but the real visit may be a birthday, a concert, a quick walk, or kids burning off energy.

Clearlake can get defined by its lake conditions too quickly. Those checks are useful, but they are not the whole story. Austin Park shows the town’s community side: people gathering near the shore, using the same public space in a bunch of different ways.

If you are trying to understand the city, pair Austin Park with Redbud Park. One feels like a broad community green. The other feels more like a launch-and-fish lake door.
