Antioch emergency prep starts with CWS and a home plan
Contra Costa's Community Warning System can give Antioch residents incident information and a specific protective action, while the city's hazard plan is background planning rather than a live alert.
The main local warning path for Antioch is Contra Costa County’s Community Warning System, usually shortened to CWS. A CWS message can identify the incident and tell the affected area to shelter in place, lock down, evacuate, or avoid a location. Read the action in the current message; those terms are not interchangeable.
Register cell numbers and email addresses with CWS before an emergency. The system can target a geographic area, but no alert method reaches every person every time. Keep Wireless Emergency Alerts, official city or county updates, and conditions around you in the same plan.
Antioch’s disaster-preparedness page and hazard-mitigation material are for planning. The current hazard-plan page presents a 2025 public-review draft covering risks such as earthquakes, floods, wildfire, and extreme weather. That draft helps explain long-term city priorities, but it is not a live incident map and should not be treated as an evacuation notice.
